Senator McDougle Kicks Off Re-Election Campaign

Hanover, VA: Earlier this week Senator Ryan McDougle (R-Hanover) hosted over 175 supporters and friends at the historic Hanover Courthouse for his re-election kick off. Senator McDougle was also joined by local elected officials from across the 7 counties in his district. McDougle served four years in the House of Delegates before becoming being elected to the Virginia Senate. Senator McDougle thanked his family and friends for their support over the last 2 years and then focused his remarks on his key legislative accomplishments during that time.

“Last year I was pleased to sponsor Virginia’s first ever Back to School Sales Tax holiday that will continue to benefit our hard working families each August. In partnership with the Attorney General this year, I also sponsored Internet Safety legislation that will become law this summer. Convicted sex offenders will now be required to register their e-mail address and chat room names. Working with Internet providers and social networking sites, this legislation makes Virginia first in the nation to use these cutting edge techniques to identify and prosecute child predators. Our children will now be safer and law enforcement will possess new tools needed to prosecute sexual predators who prey on our children over the Internet,” said McDougle.

McDougle also talked about his vision for the future.

“President Ronald Reagan had a vision for the future for our nation and he believed the United States was the best country. I hope to encourage that vision in the citizens of the Commonwealth that Virginia is the best state to live. Our Commonwealth will continue to be a place where businesses grow and advance and families prosper. I would not be here today with out the help and support of my friends and family and I look forward to continuing to serve the citizens in our Commonwealth in my 2nd term,” commented McDougle.

Senator McDougle and supporters concluded the kick off with a reception at the Hanover Tavern.
