Delegate Ryan McDougle Announces Plans for a Senate Run

– McDougle Holds Press Conference with Intentions for a Special Election –

Hanover, Virginia – Last night, Delegate Ryan McDougle (R-Hanover) announced his intent to run for the 4th District State Senate seat in front of a large crowd of over 150 enthusiastic supporters. In the old historic Hanover Courthouse where Patrick Henry argued the famous Parson’s Cause, Delegate Ryan McDougle kicked off his campaign for the Virginia state Senate in a special election which will most likely be held at the end of December or the beginning of the New Year.

McDougle will run as a candidate of the 4th District seat held by former Senator and now Lieutenant Governor-Elect Bill Bolling. Currently McDougle serves in the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 97th House District which contains many of the same localities as the 4th Senate district. All of Caroline, Essex, Hanover, King William, King & Queen, and Middlesex counties and part of Spotsylvania County encompass the 4th Senate district.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to represent my family, friends and neighbors in the legislature over the past four years. I am asking the voters of the 4th district for their support and their vote in this special election. It would be an honor to continue to serve our community in the Virginia Senate. I will continue to work hard to ensure that the General Assembly will keep our taxes low, keep spending in check, keep crime low, uphold the 2nd Amendment and work to keep education a top priority in our shared community,” said McDougle.

McDougle has served in the House of Delegates for the last four years. Much of McDougle’s time outside of the legislative session has been spent at local and community events meeting constituents, voters, and supporters. He also continues to speak to many civic groups and looks forward to continuing to do so throughout the campaign and after the legislative session.

McDougle was accompanied this evening by his wife, Bea, his parents, Sandy & Wayne McDougle, his only living grandmother, Virginia McDougle, his uncle Spencer Winfrey and his niece and nephew Aaron and Mackenzie. Lieutenant Governor-Elect introduced McDougle to the crowd calling him, “the right successor who will continue to lead with common sense conservative principles,” in front of almost 200 supporters. Numerous Boards of Supervisors members and Constitutional Officers from throughout the 4th Senate district and members of the General Assembly where there to endorse and support McDougle’s announcement.

McDougle’s next campaign event will be hosted by U.S. Senator George Allen on December 17th at his home in Mechanicsville.
